Welcome to the Nelson Wheelers Newsletter Winter/Spring 2009

Here are just a few things that are coming up in the near future and in the New Year for club members to have a go at.

First of all it's the Spa social day once again. This year its on Saturday 17th January, same as last year. We will meet at 9am at Higherford for a cycle ride over to Waddington Café for a brew stop, then cycle back home to get changed and meet at the Spa for just before 2pm ready for our two hours relaxing in the Spa.
Then we have time for a drink at a local hostelry before moving on to the Spice of India for our five course meal at 6pm.
Then afterwards it's on to the Star Cycling Club for a few extra drinks and maybe a sing-along like last time. The price for the Spa and Meal is £22 per person.

Next is the annual club ride up to the New Inn at Clapham, its on Sunday February 8th 2009, meet at Higherford at 9.30am for a steady ride over Bowland Knots to Clapham where we have dinner and a couple of drinks before the ride home. Great social day, a must for cyclists and family alike.

There is also going to be another YHA weekend on February 21st .If you are interested in going can you let me know ASAP.The destination is Coniston in the Lake District.

Then we are into the racing season, and we all know that it's all hands to pumps for the Circuit of the Dales, this year it's on Sunday April 5th. If you are not racing Steve would be very grateful if you can help. Give him a bell and offer your assistance.
Also in April the evening league will be starting over at Kildwick once again, not sure on exact dates but will let you all know as soon as I find out. Remember there is a trophy up for grabs for the fastest Wheeler over 4 of these events. On the first Bank Holiday in May it's the Wheelers Weekend at Cockermouth in the Lake District. We have the 10 mile time trial on Saturday afternoon and the 25 mile time trial on the Sunday morning. Some of us will be camping just outside Cockermouth at Wyburn Park campsite from Friday night, come along and join us for this great weekend. If you can help out with any of the races please contact either Chris Smedley or Pete Heywood.
We are trying to get a club clothing order in before the racing season so if anyone needs any other club clothing please could you let Steve or Julie Moorhouse know ASAP, we need at least 15 items.
Just a quick note to the racing members please try and let people know which events you are riding and we may be able to better some of the team results we had last year, and its great to show club strength.
